Your company has contracted with Smithers Winter Test Center to use the various test areas that have been constructed to meet your tire and vehicle testing requirements…
Designated Group Coordinator
We have asked you company to identify a person within your test group, to be a designated group coordinator.  If you do not know with the coordinator is for your group, ask at building #3 at the facility entrance between the hours of 7:00am and 5:00pm or call 906-248-5557
Facility Map
Your company coordinator should have a layout of this facility which will identify by number the various test areas that have been assigned to you according to contract requirements.  We ask that you use ONLY those areas.  Use of ANY other area is STRICTLY prohibited.  Keep a copy of the facility map with you at all times for quick reference.
Test Maneuvers
Your group coordinator MUST approve ALL vehicle test maneuvers.  Any test maneuvers conducted without your coordinators approval is STRICTLY prohibited.
Convenience and Safety
For your convenience and safety, we ask that all visitors obtain a current copy of the facility rules and a map of the facilities in the Smithers Winter Test Center office building located at the main entrance.
Track Rules – Rule 1
Our rules are very simple… so we ask your cooperation in abiding by them.  They are as follows:
All visitors must wear a visitor’s pass at all times while on site.  You may obtain a pass from you company coordinator or at the SWTC office building at the main entrance.  You must also sign a Smithers Waiver also available through your coordinator or at the SWTC office building.
Track Rules – Rule 2
2. Your company is responsible for your safety.  Anytime testing is being performed, an observer must be with you in the case of an emergency.  NEVER CONDUCT A TEST ALONE.
Track Rules – Rule 3
Each test group has an onsite designated group coordinator who is responsible for all testing activities.  The coordinator is responsible for having safety plans in place in case of any accidents.  There is an emergency phone located at the small brown shed in the well and refueling area.  The EMS numbers are, 1-906-635-9111 and it is posted in that building.  SWTC office building also has a phone; available between the hours of 7:00am and 5:00pm
Track Rules – Rule 4
When you enter the facility at the main gate between the hours of 7:00am and 5:00pm, you must stop for an ID check.  The gate will be closed between 5:00pm and 7:00am so you will need to obtain a gate security code from your designated coordinator to gain entry.
Track Rules – Rule 5
All accidents must be reported to a Smithers on site representative as soon as possible.  Anyone involved in an accident is subject to a hospital checkout and a drug test.
Track Rules – Rule 6
For you safety, seatbelts must be worn at all times.  Your coordinator may require other safety equipment.
Track Rules – Rule 7
The speed limit on all access roads is 25 miles per hour conditions permitting.
Track Rules – Rule 8
Test speeds are not to exceed 60 miles per hour without prior approval from your designated coordinator.
Track Rules – Rule 9
All vehicles must be equipped with a two way radio that permits communication with Smithers personnel.
Track Rules – Rule 10
No alcoholic beverages or drugs are permitted on the test surfaces or the garages.
Track Rules – Rule 11
No photography or videography is permitted without approval from your group coordinator AND Smithers facilities coordinator.
Track Rules – Rule 12
All testing must be conducted in your companies designated test area(s) which are identified by number.  You company coordinator should have a facility map which identifies the various test areas that you have been assigned to you according to contract requirements.  We ask that you use ONLY those areas.  Use of any other test area is strictly prohibited.  Please check the map with the test area numbers you company has contracted for.  Keep a copy of the facility map with you at all times for quick reference.
Track Rules – Rule 13
Do not run on bare pavement test areas or on ice pads if there is snow on them.  Wait until Smithers maintenance personnel have had time to clean the surface.
Track Rules – Rule 14
Do not run on packed snow areas when it is raining OR if the snow surface is melting.
Track Rules – Rule 15
Use of testing areas is not permitted while they are being groomed.  Keep in mind that all maintenance support equipment has the right-of-way.  Watch out for this equipment.  They may be working in your test area(s).  Remember, they cannot see you as well as you can see them.
Additional Rules
Your company may have additional rules.  Please check with your designated group coordinator before proceeding to any test areas.
